What's Exciting and New for Festival 2010

Burlington ON (May 25, 2010). Burlington's Sound of Music Festival is pleased to announce new features for Festival 2010.

Caribana comes to the best parade in the area. We have added a flamboyant entry to the Grande Festival Parade. Come down Saturday at 11am to see the fantastic Marching Band Parade with the renowned Burlington Teen Tour Band and now a taste of the islands.

Pine Street Expansion Relax Saturday evening at the Affair at the Square and bring the Family to Sunday Funday over on Pine Street. See the Downtown Streetfest pages in your program or online for more information on these two entertaining additions.

Extended Hours Sunday George Canyon will be playing into our newly added 2 hours at the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Stage. The Carnival, Vendors and Gardens will be keeping pace with the George's Country set to 7pm Sunday.

Education Program Saturday Afternoon at the Burlington Arts Centre, right alongside of our Classical Stage, the Festival will be running classes to add to our youth's experience of Music, Theatre and Dance. These Sessions are the first of many exciting opportunities for year round exposure to the arts presented by the Sound of Music Festival. Daytime Screens Worried that you don't get the best view in the day? This year we are bringing new LED screens to Burlington allowing you to see all ArcelorMittal Dofasco Stage performers on the two large screens up close and personal.

Thursday Night Thursday will kick off the Festival bigger than ever, with two stages running. We have entertainment for the young and young at heart with Marianas Trench on the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Stage and Tributes to Rush, AC/DC and Tragically Hip at the west end of the park on the OLG Stage.

Fireworks Back by popular demand Saturday night. Last year we celebrated 30 years with a tremendous fireworks display synced to music, and were capping off Saturday evening again with a bang.

Donations Individuals can help the Festival continue to be a FABULOUS event filled with Free exciting and excellent music. Donations can be made online at http://www.soundofmusic.ca/donations.php or in the park through our donation bucket program.

June 17th to 20th will mark Burlington's Sound of Music Festival's 31st year of creating "Four Fabulous Days of Free Music and Fun” along our beautiful picturesque waterfront, Spencer Smith Park, and throughout downtown Burlington.  Through the generosity and support of sponsors and the dedication of over 500 volunteers, the Festival continues to be a free event for music lovers of all ages, welcoming close to 190,000 visitors annually.
