Simply Green

THERE IS NO PLANET B, GO WASTE FREE! OUR ECO TEAM WILL SHOW YOU HOW…..
Compost and Recycling
We sort close to 15 tonnes of waste each year (that’s the size of 3 huge elephants standing 4 meters tall!). Our goal is to take 85% of this waste and divert it into compost and recycling – that’s 85% less waste going into our landfills! This is a monumental task but our Eco volunteers are geared up for it!
Come to the Eco Center located at the west end of Spencer Smith Park to check out our sorting process. Believe it or not, we open every garbage bag and sort out the compost, recycling and litter!
How can you help? Located throughout the Festival grounds are 3-cluster barrel systems that include COMPOST, RECYCLING and LITTER – you can help in a HUGE way by depositing your litter in the appropriate barrel. It’s that simple!
Water Re-fill Stations
Plastic water bottles are the largest component of our waste, so please bring your own re-useable water bottle. We have water re-filling stations on site. At these stations you have the option to buy a cup of water (the cup is compostable!) where you can refill it as often as you like. Or you may purchase one of our refillable souvenir (for the best music festival in the world!) water containers. These may be refilled with water as often as you want - talk about a great deal!! These are two great ways to help achieve our goal in making the Festival bottle-free by 2014. Whew, that’s a big goal but we’re up for the challenge!
Shuttle Service
With over 200,000 attendees, our continuing goal is to reduce gas emissions and congestion in the downtown core.
Burlington Transit has been contracted to provide a shuttle bus service. Our shuttle bus will run from the Burlington Fairview GO Station (ample parking is available on both sides of the GO Station) to the Downtown John Street Transit Terminal, one small block away from Spencer Smith Park. The bus runs every 15 minutes! We have awesome volunteers and Burlington Transit staff at either location to help you with any questions you may have.
Your contribution of $3 per person for a round trip shuttle ride will help to keep this convenient program sustainable. Children under 5 are free, and we honour valid Burlington Transit transfers. Park and ride the Festival Shuttle and help us reduce our ecological footprint!
Bike Corral
Our Bike Corral will safely store your bike while you enjoy the Festival worry-free!
If you are able to cycle down to the Festival, you can simply check your bike at the Corral - get a ticket - enjoy the Festival - and pick up your bike when you are ready to go! This fenced and supervised area is located behind the Waterfront Hotel. The fee is only $2 per bicycle and will go entirely to help support our free Festival!
